Travelling full speed!

The travelling is going fast...
Here some images from days 5 to 7...

Day 5: Bikaner
Visit to Ford Junaragh,
the former gorgeous palace from the Maharadja from Bikaner.

Detail inside Ford Junaragh
Before entering Fort Junaragh

Visit to the Rat Temple...
Rats are sacred here
and it is believed to bring good luck
if a rat runs over your (of course bare) feet.

Can you spot the rats?

They are fed well, so they don't bite off your toes.

Kissing the hallway wall...
Day 6: Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Stopped by a brick factory on the way...

The burntower
A little boy that lives
and probably works there

Camel Tattoo at the desert festival.

Day 7: Jaisalmer
Desert festival

Walk through town

And then I didn't mention
the Camel race,
the cultural program from the desert festival,
our camel ride
our visit to a silver smid
the millions of tiny shops
our visit to a deserted and destroyed desert village
and a million more images and pictures,
on film and in my head...

How India gets to me

90% of the time,
India makes me smile.
Sometimes it makes meynose curl,
my eyes water,
my heart jump
or my fingers tingle.

Yesterday it made me feel an enormous sadness
grief and pain.
Tears started flowing
and my stomach turned in a knot...

There is no explaining,
there are a million of reasons.
But I can give you an image
of the man that triggered this.

Desert man.

Travelling rings

I made this ring-case myself,
in an old suitcase.

I put my creations in a suitcase,
so you can give them a better gaze.
I am equiped and ready to make more
let me know if you want to score
a ring or two
I bet they will look great on you!

Not so difficult to make, do you want to know how?
Send me an email, or check:
http://gerhildemaakt.wordpress.com/2013/01/15/ringendoo/
In dutch...
Thank you Gerhilde for this great idea!

Now it's time for me to pack too...
you wonder what I am going to do?
I will be in India for three weeks
and  promiss you some peeks
in what I do and don't and feel
and maybe about my favorite meal!

The ring of F...abric

It was fun, it was a blast,
it was easy and fast...
Some rings of fabric on the wall.
and it's the prettiest wall of them all :).

Want to make some too?
All you need is:
- embroider-ring(s)
- some pieces of fabric
- nail and hammer
- a wall
- maybe some old frames?

All you do is:
- for the embroider-rings:
tighten the fabric in the rings
and cut the fabric off at the edge
hang up :)
- for the frames:
put the fabric in the frame,
push the back of the frame in
and cut of the fabric at the edge
hang up :)

Have fun and enjoy the view!

The fairytale forest

A tree that talked

and shoes that walked

Icy-cold

a lot of gold.

Scary things

and a trash-man that sings...

This is what we saw and more
when we walked through the Efteling's door.
Everything seemed much more small,
but so was I after all.
We had fun and it was great,
but most of those fairytale creatures, I would not date!

Something I regret...

Last weekend
I did something I hadn't done in years
I, of course, did not take a picture,
but here's one from the market in
Villa De Leyva, Colombia
I went somewhere I normally never go
A place of horror to me...

I went to the butcher...

I wanted to get my troops ready to help with my moving
and my dad always goes to the dead-animals-store on sunday
so I did it for him, so he'd be ready earlier...

The smell,
the pinkness and redness
the smell
the luckily empty meatchunckhooks
the smell
the knifes and slicers
the smell
the horrible names on my list (f.e. smoked horsemeat...)
the smell

I felt sick
had tears in my eyes
and almost threw up...

Never again...

But thank you vake for helping me move :)

Sending and receiving

I love mail!
The good old fashioned letter...
the good old fashioned postcard!

I enjoyed writing postcards while I was travelling,
but of course couldn't really receive
Except for the lovely cards from my Moeke
when I was living in the yoga retreat and Curacao,
and the sweet cards to my Belgian address from Karen
who just kept writing even when I was away.
Those cards where read and shown to me over skype
by that same Moeke.
Thank you to those two lovely ladies!

So, I promised myself.
once I am back in one spot,
I will keep writing
and receiving
postcards.

Next to the occasional card to friends and family
there is Postcrossing

I am loving it!

Not much is more exciting then
checking the mailbox
and seeing something in there
very specially just for you...
Bills just don't give you that same thrill :).

The first postcard I received,
from Stefan
from Germany.
I love it!

Ready to... move it move it!

A new place,
a new spot,
a new face
and what not.

A new beginning,
a new start
is of course winning
but also hard.

Not alone,
but by myself
a new home
and a new-old shelf!

I could use this moving truck from San Francisco.
